Blog Post 2

My associations with the word probiotics are just that they should be taken when one takes antibiotics. Although I have to be honest and say that I never have. I had heard the word a time or two in the past but really started thinking about it when one of my friends had a baby and was suffering from thrush. It seems to be an antibiotic resistant strain and she is still suffering from thrush two months later. This friend was talking about how she should have taken probiotics when she first started taking antibiotics and she would make sure she and her family always did from now on.

Probiotics help to keep the good antibodies alive and flourishing in the body and are especially important when one is taking an antibiotic that is targeting all antibodies unintentionally.

Probiotics help one’s body and especially one’s digestive tract. They can have a profound effect on one’s life and emotional well-being as the person begins to feel better and healthier.

When I knew that I was going to be participating in the study and received the email that said we would be asked to buy some probiotics I did look up to see if it would be safe to take while pregnant. I looked the information up online at a few trusted baby sites I have gotten information from in the past such as babycenter.com.

I was not really aware of probiotic yogurt/foods but I have been told in the past to make sure the yogurt I buy has live cultures in it. I don’t really know much more than that except for “it is good for you.”

I am looking forward to trying the probiotic supplements. I think they are something that is extremely useful and should be a part of every person’s life and regimen. I think it is very important to keep one’s digestive tract healthy!

Someone that has an understanding of body systems, especially the digestive system would e the kind of person to definitely use probiotic supplements. They are well-educated. They could live anywhere due to the ease of ordering items online. They and their family are relatively healthier than the general population because they understand what steps to take to maintain a healthy lifestyle and actually take these steps!
